Search Engine Optimization

Heard about this term a while back ~about 2 years ago precisely~, when an IT firm that was handling a web design contract of the organisation I was working for came to brief us about their progress. Imagine just being there and nodding having no clue whatsoever and not wanting to appear naive. So I thought I should share the little I know about this term.

Search Engine Optimization refers to tweaks and modifications made to a webpage(usually homepage of a website) in order for the page to be easily found by a search engine or someone searching for the site but don't know its address.

Optimizing involves editing the content of a webpage ~html and other associated coding~ to includes keywords and other elements detected by web crawlers*, for example adding keyword 'meta tag' to an html document.

Search Engine Optimization is usually done to ensure a site is ranked high on various search engines or atleast appears on the first page when you search for a term particular to the site. For example, searching for 'tech by jay' or 'jay tech' should return a page that has this blog listed.

*Web crawlers are just bunch of codes or programs that crawl the web looking for stuffs used by search engines to find sites ~that are online~ to include in their index.

Verdict: Not buzz worthy iPhone 5 is slated to be released September 21st.

A close look at Blackberry Aristo and iPhone 5 spec, one would conclude that RIM is trying to imitate iPhone 5 while also wanting to improve on some of its features. Firstly, the adoption of a non-removable battery which is the standard in Apple smart devices seems unnecessary and disappointing to say the least as most Blackberry devices hangs and/or lock-up quite often and removing the battery is a quick wayout which is a norm among its users. Also packing this smartphone with features upon features isn't so much of a good move. DLNA Support, microHDMI out, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Altimeter, Wi-Fi direct, NFC, hot swappable microSD slot, 4 microphones, face detection, etc...powered by a 2800mAh battery. I mean what are they trying to makeup for or distract users from? Aristo's hardware maybe mindblowing but it's dead on arrival(DOA) if the OS aint ...
